The Perfect Conditions
This morning after running five miles with rubber legs and heavy lungs, up and down hills, hot and sweaty, I hit a long flat stretch with a light breeze. Ahhhh! "Now this is the perfect condition for running," I thought. "If it could just be like this all the time, I would be happy."
And it occurred to me ... that's how we want life to be. The perfect conditions so we can be happy.
Teenagers! You Gotta Love ‘Em.

Talking
Teenagers are so fun! I loved my small children but I enjoy my older ones so much more. One of the differences I’ve noticed between the younger and older years is who does most of the talking. When they were little, I talked to them a lot. They needed instruction and correction. I read them stories. I told them funny things to make them laugh when they were sad, or distract them from an ouchie. We home schooled, so I taught them academics. I had no idea that being a parent of young children would involve so much talking!
Listening
Ah, but the teenage years are different. Or they should be. Now it’s my turn to listen and it … is … FUN. They crack me up! The things they think and wonder about seem to fly out of the blue.
“Mom, if a zombie jumps in front of our car, I’m going to scream like a girl. Just so ya know.”
Got it. Priceless.
