Something New

by Jennifer O. White

I love a good mystery. My favorite shows all have an element of mystery. This weekend, my hero husband and I experienced the new Angelina Jolie movie, Salt. It was a Jason Bourne, action packed, what’s going to happen next movie. I was guessing ‘til the very end.

Come to think of it, I like new. I try new recipes, new restaurants and talk to new people! (Yes I am one of those people.) But there have been a few mysteries I have not appreciated. Moving away from all of our family and friends was the biggest. I cried for almost five years every time the subject came up. The cost was too high. And instead of a good future, all I could see was a wall with fear, panic and the word “NO” grafitti’d all over it!

Thankfully His still small voice broke thru the noise. I was waiting for Beth Moore’s Believing God Bible study to begin and I had the following encounter with God.

“You love it when you see something happen and know it was Me, don’t you?”

“Of course! It’s so cool to realize You were working behind the scenes all along!”

“Then why don’t you get excited about what I am going to do?”

“Ooooh! I can do that!”

And my life has never been the same! I had a few more moments of “mully-grubbing” about moving. (Mully-grubbing is southern slang for complaining) But He was faithful to remind me of our previous chat about what He was going to do. And He was faithful to give me a few new “nuggets” to hold on to.

The result? Hundreds of wonderful relationships. New soul-edifying friendships that I could have never known if I had not believed Him. An exponentially better marriage. Personal growth. New opportunities to serve Him. And these are things I can see today. I am smiling as I write this knowing that what lies ahead of me is a mystery, one I can look forward to.

There is freedom in believing God. He taught me to trust Him. Then He gave me one insight that changed the course of my life. And I am free to live the life that is more than I could have asked or imagined. I am living these two verses from Isaiah!

“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed. Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT

What about you? I would love to hear how God has fulfilled this passage in your life. Or how you are trusting that He will.

Traci

Ooooh girl, this was so good!  I feel like we are the same in many areas.  I truly felt like I was writing this along with you.

I love NEW and Exciting things/people.  But I hate the change that can come with it.

I’m learning to trust God each step of the way, trusting that HE KNOWS best and knows the plans for me.

Praise His Name!

Love,
Traci

She always takes a person to the truth that God loves them, and reminds them that their past and present struggles do not change that. She gently, but clearly and directly shares the truth with them and deposits them at the foot of the cross so they can see their Savior, not her.

I’ve always thought of the Bible as a man’s book. Lyn makes the Bible a woman’s book.

Lyn is fully present in the moment whether speaking to a crowd or to one person.

You were funny, articulate, engaging, as well as transparent. Your message resonated with so many of our women, and I love how you wove both Biblical stories and your own personal experiences throughout.

From Lyn’s message, I learned that instead of dwelling on past sin, I can make it victorious in my life. I can conquer these things in my life. I feel empowered today!
