Africa, Here I Come!

If there’s one thing the Christian life is not, it’s boring. Anyone who thinks it is, hasn’t seriously surrendered their life to God and said, “Here am I, send me.”  If you trust God enough to do that, hold on!

God is sending me to Africa in November. I’m so excited about what He is doing that I want to share it with you.

The Facts

I will be spending a week teaching and serving at a seminary. That’s a dream come true, right there! I have been asked to write and present a paper on cybermissions, about how Africans in ministry can digitally reach “the ends of the earth.” I will also have the privilege of speaking in their chapel services and spending time specifically encouraging the women students. The following weekend will be spent speaking at a church conference.  I will be serving alongside Pastor Joe Miller, whose emphasis is church planting.

The Heart

During the time I have been praying over this trip, thinking through the various topics, and emailing details back and forth, my heart for the African people has grown. I am eager to see them, to be with them, to listen to them, and to love them in the name of Jesus. I sense that our hearts beat alike. They are studying and pursuing God in order to know Him and make Him known. That’s me too! In God’s amazingly generous economy, He is sending me to meet my spiritual brothers and sisters. He is allowing us to spend a week exploring Him together. The wonder of God’s plan takes my breath away.

The Opportunity

If your heart beats with a love of God’s Word, a love of God’s people, and a desire to make Him known in all the world, would you please partner with me on this trip? You can experience some of the blessing too!

Would you please pray for me? Pray that my preparation in the months ahead will be Spirit led. Pray for no complications in getting a visa. Pray for me to teach and serve with boldness, clarity and compassion. Pray for those I serve and serve with to be changed by the power of the Spirit. Pray for abundant financial provision.

Would you please consider giving a financial gift, if you are able? This trip is totally donation based. Gifts are tax deductible if sent to Heritage Baptist Church, 14317 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City, OK, 73142. Include a note specifying it is for my trip to Africa.

Thank you for joining me in obedience to Jesus, who commanded us to, “Go and make disciples of all nations … teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

Does it get any better than that?

Each week, as I sat under her teaching of God’s Word, I felt the penetrating power of God’s Spirit work deeply in my heart as Lyn shared the truth with clarity and conviction.

A confident and very articulate public speaker, Lyn is much attuned to her audience, their needs, and the various phases they may be in life.

Lyn has the proven ability to say, share or ask where many would gloss over, over-generalize or not go. Lyn is clear and forthright when sharing about her self, without pretense and is not ambiguous about her past, its impact or the hope and healing that she has experienced.

I feel like I sat at Jesus’ feet and heard from Him.

She always takes a person to the truth that God loves them, and reminds them that their past and present struggles do not change that. She gently, but clearly and directly shares the truth with them and deposits them at the foot of the cross so they can see their Savior, not her.

Lyn touched our hearts in so many ways during her visit to the Table Rock Freedom Center. Each girl walked away with a new perspective on dealing with the pain of their addictions. She was authentic and full of grace. We can’t wait to have her back.
